DEVELOP A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD BY PS EBENEZER AGYAPONG
Develop a personal relationship with God
Pastor Ebenezer Agyapong tells Youth, the Youth Pastor for Teshie-Nungua Area, Pastor Ebenezer Korankye Agyapong has called on young people to develop a personal relationship with God by knowing God for themselves.
“Build a relationship with God, nobody can use witchcraft against you, nobody can use for girls or for boys against you,” he said adding, “When God is personal to you, you can get a lot of benefits and you don’t need an intermediary.”
Pastor Agyapong was speaking at the ongoing Teshie-Nungua Area Youth Ministry Camp meeting which is taking place at the Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa Fetteh, in the Central Region on the theme: Developing a personal relationship with the Lord.”
He said relating to God at a personal level is a privilege which Christians have been able to access by the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
“In the past only a few people were selected and anointed to stand in the presence of the Lord,” Pastor Agyapong said of the Old Testament priests adding, “It was a case of monopoly in the presence of the Lord. When Jesus died, the curtain in the temple was torn into two and the Holy of holies was exposed.”
According to him, Jesus has opened the door for all, where every can have a relationship with God, adding” it is personal.”
“Man is spirit, having a soul living in a body and has to relate to God who is spirit,” he Pastor Agyapong said adding, “If we are not careful, because we live body, it will not allow us to relate to God.” it requires that we engage ourselves in exercises that connect our spirits with God.”
Pastor Agyapong further explained that once a person believes in Jesus Christ and confess Him as Lord, the person’s is recreated or regenerated, and becomes born again.
“When you believe in Jesus Christ, your spirit which was dead, and had no communication with God, becomes alive,” he said.
Quoting Ephesians 2: 1 he said though Christians were dead in trespasses and sins, God being rich in mercy has made us alive together with Christ.
Reading John 17: 3, pastor Agyapong stressed that receiving eternal life is just the beginning of the journey, all Christians must endeavour to know, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you He have sent to save mankind from sins.
“The body is always fighting the spirit; you have to start engaging in fasting and prayer. It is one of the ways of starving your body, so that your spirit to overcome the body’s appetites, for sleep, for food and for sex among others.
“Appetite for food is the most senior of all the appetites, the more you eat, the body gets the strength to think about other appetites, once you subject the body to fasting, the other appetites automatically go to sleep, “he said adding, “prayer is very important in the life of every Christian, some Christians never pray until they have a bad dream at night.”
Quoting , Galatians 5: 16-17, Pastor Agyapong explained that Young people who want to develop personal relationships with God must starve, their flesh, through fasting, continue in prolonged prayers, get a hard copy of the Bible and get close to the word of God just as they are close to their phones.
“All your entire Bible study should not be on your phone. Move from reading, get to study, move from study to memorization and to meditation. Get personal, this lazy kind of Christianity must stop, “he charged the youth.
